How do I change a user's role in my dashboard?

Sometimes you may need to grant a user more or less access to the dashboard. This article details the access granted to different user types, and how to change a user's role.

There are two user types – viewers and admins. 


Viewers: Viewers are restricted to dashboard viewing and report downloading. They cannot set alerts or add new users but can receive alerts.


Admins: Admins enjoy full feature access, except for ordering additional sensors. They can add viewers and set/modify alerts but cannot add account owners.

Changing a User's Role

GlacierGrid Web Dashboard – Classic dashboard

  1. Log in to your web dashboard. 
  2. Select Users tab.
  3. Under Users, select the user whose role you want to edit.
  4. Under User type, select whether you want the user to be a Viewer or an Administrator, then click Save at the bottom before navigating away.
    1. You may also edit the notification settings for the user (e.g. push notification, email).

GlacierGrid Web App – Energy dashboard

  1. Log in to your web dashboard, and click Energy Dashboard in the top right corner.
  2. Select People in the left-hand navigation bar.
  3. Select the user whose role you want to edit.
  4. Click the User role dropdown to select a different role for the user, then click the blue Save button at the bottom before navigating away.

Glacier Grid Mobile App

  1. Open the mobile app on your phone.
  2. Select People on the bottom of your screen. 
  3. Search for or select the user whose role you want to edit.
  4. Select the user’s name, and then click on the edit pencil icon in the top right corner.

  5. Select whether you want the user to be a viewer or an admin; press Save in the top right before navigating away.

Deleting a User

GlacierGrid Web App – Energy dashboard

  1. Log in to your Web dashboard, and select Energy Dashboard in the top right corner.
  2. Select the People tab from the left-hand navigation bar.
  3. Search for the user you wish to delete.
  4. Click their name, and click Delete User in the bottom right corner.
  5. A dialogue box will appear. Confirm the deletion.

GlacierGrid Web App – Classic dashboard

  1. Log in to your web dashboard. 
  2. Select the Users tab from the navigation bar at the top.
  3. Search for the user you wish to delete.
  4. Click on the trash icon next to the user’s name.
  5. A dialogue box will appear. Confirm the deletion.

Note: If a user’s profile is part of an alert, you need to remove the profile from the alerts first. Some alerts may only be available to edit in the Mobile App.

GlacierGrid Mobile App

  1. Open the GlacierGrid app on your mobile device. 
  2. Select the People tab from the navigation bar at the left.
  3. Search for the user you wish to delete and select their name.
  4. Click the trash icon in the top right corner. 
    1. You can also select how you wish to alert the user to their deletion (e.g. text message, email, etc.)

  5. A dialog box will pop up to confirm the deletion. Confirm the deletion.
