My thermostat is offline

In this article, we'll guide you through the steps to troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues with your thermostat.

What can cause a thermostat to go offline?

Connectivity

    • Offline wifi router
    • The thermostat disconnected from the wifi network or hub

Power

    • Facility power outage
    • Wires on the back of the thermostat have been bumped loose

    • Flipped breaker switch

    • A mechanical issue with your HVAC system

Regardless of the connection of your thermostat to the internet, you can still interact with the thermostat in person to implement overrides and changes to ensure your comfort.

Offline Thermostat typically connected to WiFi router:

If your thermostat is failing to connect, follow these steps to resolve the issue.

  1.  Take a look at your thermostat's display. If it does not light up upon activation, please click here for troubleshooting as this could indicate a lack of power to the thermostat.
  2. Approach the thermostat and input code 1516 and rejoin the thermostat to the following wifi network.

Thermostat Wifi Credentials
Network Name: Therma Energy

Password: HelloTherma!HT

3. If unsuccessful, reset your thermostat by gently pulling the face plate off the wall. After 2 minutes, snap it back on.
4. If your thermostat is still not connecting, you can connect it to any network you trust in the facility; or you can try moving the wifi router we provided closer to your thermostat for improved connectivity.

Offline Thermostat typically connected to hub:

Please follow these steps to power cycle and reset your hub. Once the hub is reconnected to the network your thermostat should automatically connect as well.

  1. Reset your hub by unplugging it from the wall.

  2. Plug your hub back into power after 2 minutes.

  3. What lights do you see?

    1. If the hub has 2 black antennas, then the light statuses are:

      1. Always Green Lights

      2. PWR: Solid light indicates power is on. No light? Contact Support.

      3. LoRA: Off during normal operation

      4. WLAN: Solid light when connected to our LoRa Network, blinking otherwise

      5. LTE: Solid light = searching for a cellular network, blinking light = connected

      6. If the LTE light is solid, repeat this step.

      7. Check the connection icon on the top right of the thermostat to see if it is blinking or connected.

    2. If the hub has 2 white antennas, then the light statuses are:

      1. Always Red Lights

      2. PWR: Solid light indicates power is on. No light? Contact Support.

      3. LoRa: Solid light when connected to the LoRa network

      4. Globe: Blinking light = searching for a cellular network, solid light = connected

    3. If the globe light is blinking after 10 minutes, repeat this step. Check the connection icon on the top right of the thermostat to see if it is blinking or connected.
