This article will detail what NIST is, what distinguishes our NIST certified products, and how to purchase NIST certified products if needed.
What is NIST?
NIST refers to the National Institute of Science & Technology, a subgroup of the U.S. Department of Commerce that sets industry standards within the tech industry. NIST has its testing centers to build a set of standards for products across the industry, and provides certifications to products based on their alignment with these conditions.
What does a NIST certification mean?
In the case of GlacierGrid products, a NIST certification means that the sensor has been certified under laboratory conditions to measure temperature & humidity within an allowable degree of accuracy.
NIST certification importantly does not indicate anything about calibration. All GlacierGrid sensors, regardless of certification, are factory-calibrated.
What is the difference between a NIST-certified and non-certified sensor?
All GlacierGrid products are tested per our manufacturers guidelines before shipment. A NIST-certified GlacierGrid sensor represents a unique level of accuracy that your businesses may need, particularly if your business needs to be compliant with specific policies. Non-NIST certified sensor still provide excellent accuracy for your business needs.
